SNAP'd Around the Community - Recently the GHL (Genesis Hockey League) held their ninth annual draft/BBQ day at the Virgil Sportsplex Pavilion. This year the GHL’s charity of choice will be Gillian’s Place in St. Catharines. Pictured above are Director James Bell, League Commissioner Richard Scapillati and Director Leighann Conlon. SNAP'd Around the Community - For a second year, this team pictured from Thorold and called the “Hardrocks” captured the Michele Chieca Memorial Soccer Tournament. The tournament was played over the September 17 and 18 weekend at Club Italia. The “Hardrocks” defended their title by shutting out the opposition 5-0 to win the title! Organized as part of the Molson Canadian Red Leaf Project, this effort supported WWF Canada’s Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup effort, which last year cleaned more than 2,100 km of Canadian shores. Pictured here, Elsa and Liam are joined by Elizabeth and Andy who show the efforts of their hard work after cleaning the shoreline at the Port Dalhousie beach. SNAP'd Around the Community - The 18th Annual United Way Golf Tournament presented by PerformanceCars took place at Twenty Valley Golf & Country Club on August 22.  Thanks to the contributions of sponsors, volunteers, and players, the tournament was a huge success, raising $50,533. As United Way’s largest fundraising event, this tournament is a catalyst for United Way’s annual fall campaign, which launches approximately two weeks following the tournament. Pictured here is the winning foursome, Dr. Watts Team. The 18th Annual United Way Golf Tournament presented by PerformanceCars took place at Twenty Valley Golf & Country Club on August 22. SNAP'd Around the Community - Friends of Hospice Niagara enjoy a great meal at The Stone Road Grille, one of 19 restaurants that participated in Hospice Niagara’s annual Dine-Out for Hospice event. Participating restaurants across the region donated 10-20% of their revenue on September 1 to Hospice Niagara. Hospice Niagara is a non-profit charitable organization that provides compassionate palliative care to individuals and their families who face a life limiting illness. Friends of Hospice Niagara enjoy a great meal at The Stone Road Grille, one of 19 restaurants that participated in Hospice Niagara’s annual Dine-Out for Hospice event. Following the ribbon cutting was an open house that hundreds of Niagara residents attended.
